Product Description

Identification: The appearance of the Red Agate Canary, Serinus Canaria, varies in coloring from a soft orange to a deep red, and marked the beginning of color canary breeding as a hobby. If you are looking for a pet canary for sale this could be the one for you if you like vibrant colors. The Red Agate Canary gets it's name by the similar coloring of agate gem stones and is considered a "color" bird.

* If you desire a specific color range, please be sure to indicate this on your order. We do our best to accommodate all requests and please note that special requests can delay shipping.

Geography: The Atlantic canary (Serious canaria) is known worldwide simply as wild canary. It is a small passerine bird belonging to the genus Serinus in the finch family,Fringillidae. It is native to the Canary Islands, the Azores, and Madeira.

Size: about 6 inches

Song/Call:

Breeding: Cup shaped nest. The eggs are pale blue or blue-green with violet or reddish markings concentrated at the broad end. A clutch contains 3 to 4 or occasionally 5 eggs and 2-3 broods are raised each year. The eggs are incubated for 13–14 days and the young birds leave the nest after 14–21 days, most commonly after 15–17 days

Diet: We suggest our highly nutritious Canary Seed, egg food, cuttlebone and some greens.

DNA Testing -  Note: If a DNA test is selected by a customer to determine gender of a bird, a charge of $99.00 is charged per test, and the results may take 3-6 plus weeks for results.

* If there is not a gender option listed for this bird on our website, that particular species is 'monomorphic,' which means we’re unable to determine gender without DNA testing. If you want us to do our best without DNA testing, make a note in the comment section of your order letting us know your preference. If no DNA testing is ordered, we are unable to guarantee a preferred gender but will do our best. See our FAQs for more info.
