Pet Parrotfinches For Sale

Parrotfinches are small, colorful passerine birds belonging to the genus Erythrura in the family Estrildidae, the estrildid finches. Parrotfinches originate from South-east Asia to New Guinea, northern Australia and many Pacific Islands. Parrotfinches inhabit forest, bamboo thickets and grassland and some can be found in man-made habitats such as farmland, parks and gardens. Several species are commonly kept as pet cage birds. There are over 10 species of Parrotfinches.

Parrotfinches have a natural inquisitive nature, and seem to happily recognize their owner immediately and often are known to greet them at the door. Parrotfinches are very gentle and an entertaining and delightfully beautiful pet finch to own. Parrotfinches are vivacious, very energetic and always on the move, making a great addition to any aviary.

These aviary gems enjoy a daily bath, even during winter, and enjoy jumping in and out of the water. Bathing is an important part of their daily grooming, so provide them with fresh containers of water daily aside from their drinking dish.

Parrotfinches are interesting in the sense of their almost semi-nocturnal nature. Parrotfinches are always last to roost at night, and can be seen still on the food station, or darting around the aviary when you have the house lights on. Conversely, they are first to stir in the morning.

The bonding of Parrotfinches is extremely strong, and they are seldom seen apart from one another. If one should die, a new partner should be introduced as soon as possible to prevent depression. The Finch Farm advises to provide more hens in your colony than male Parrotfinches to minimize the potential aggression between males.
