Species Habitat: This bird can be found throughout the central and western Amazon Basin, in the countries of Ecuador, eastern Venezuela, central Bolivia, Peru, northwestern Brazil, and Columbia. The Green-and-gold Tanager prefers tropical and subtropical swamps and moist lowland forests. Their preferred elevation varies from no more than 900 m in Venezuela to 1650 m in Peru.

Breeding: The nest is built by the female and is made of lichens and dried leaves. The average clutch size is two eggs, which may be brown and red in appearance.
